Detect any illegal activities that may endanger water quality
Keep track the amount of total waste collected
Manage Klang River rehabilitation programs
River Patrolling Unit (PRU) was established to monitor any illegal activities that may risk water quality and it has been commenced at certain routes along Klang River. Apart from the physical impact project, we have acted proactively by conducting continuous monitoring along the river reserves to ensure that no activity is at risk of polluting the Klang River. Therefore, the formation of the Motorcycle River Patrolling Unit is required at this point with the assistance of existing government agencies such as LUAS, JPS and etc.
After the program, ‘River Guardian For A Better Tomorrow’ at the Pangkalan Batu Urban Park inaugurated, a new component in a series of community engagement program under the project Selangor Maritime Gateway (SMG), with the establishment of RPU to monitor and detect any illegal activities that may endanger water quality as well as will complement the existing efforts for monitoring and surveillance of the river conducted by the authorities, the use of sensors for monitoring water quality in real time at the river and aerial surveillance by drones. The action plans have been taken to ensure the river gets better surveillance especially site monitoring on a daily basis based on the activities along the Klang River such as pollution sources and activities with monthly report. Any complaints concerning illegal activities or pollution sources will be issued to relevant authorities.
RPU is now actively doing the monitoring act along the Klang River which also encourages motorcyclists to volunteer as part of monitoring activities along the river to avoid any illegal land use activities that may affect the rehabilitation project in the future.
