Official Opening of SMG’s Waste Sorting Facility in Klang Marks Key Environmental Milestone

Yesterday on the 2nd of July 2025, marked a significant milestone for Selangor Maritime Gateway (SMG) with the official inauguration of our Waste Sorting Facility in Sungai Pinang, Klang, officiated by the Datuk Bandar of Majlis Bandaraya Diraja Klang and witnessed by the Honourable Secretary General, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability.

This initiative, proudly sponsored by Coca-Cola Malaysia and J&K Wonderland Foundation in partnership with The Ocean Cleanup and Landasan Lumayan Sdn Bhd, is a crucial step in our ongoing mission to restore and revitalise the Klang river. The facility plays a vital role in enhancing waste management efficiency—helping to reduce river pollution, minimise waste sent to landfills, and support circular economy practices.

We are also honoured to have the support of MBI Selangor and Yayasan Hijau, whose shared commitment strengthens our collective environmental efforts.

This achievement is a powerful testament to SMG’s vision: a resilient, economically vibrant, and ecologically thriving Klang River for generations to come.
