From Source to Sea: The Evolution of the Klang River

DID YOU KNOW?

The Klang River stretches approximately 120 km flowing through the heart of Kuala Lumpur and Selangor before reaching the Strait of Malacca.

Its journey begins as a small forest stream in the hills near the Klang Gates Quartz Ridge, one of the longest quartz ridges in the world. From this modest beginning, the river gradually grows as it flows through valleys, forests and urban landscapes.

Along the way, it meets the Gombak River at the historic confluence near Masjid Jamek, a site closely linked to the early development of the city. From a humble stream in nature, the Klang River grows into a vital waterway that connects ecosystems, communities and history across the region.

Stay tuned for our upcoming video to get a glimpse of the Klang River’s origin!
